Department of Pharmacology

The department of Pharmacology is a part of
Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College & Research Centre.
It serves various teaching programmes which include MBBS, MD, MSc.
MBBS
The department was
established in 2008 and the first MBBS batch entered in the department in
2009-10 session with an annual intake of 100 students. Later on seats increased
to 150 from 2015-16 session. Till now, 4 batches of MBBS students have passed
from the department of Pharmacology.
In
MBBS course, there is an intake of 150 students, who perceives their training
in the department from 3rd semester to 5th semester in the form of
lectures, practicals, tutorials, group discussions etc.
For
each MBBS batch, there are 3 lectures per week, 1 practical and 1 tutorial per
week on rotation. MBBS Students are taught with the help of modern teaching
methodology in the form of problem based learning using various teaching aid
such as PowerPoint, Talk & Chalk, OHP, white board etc. The students are
trained in view of applied aspect of the subject. Periodic student’s assessment
is done by different faculties on the basis of attendance, discipline, class
test and examination results.
Students
are divided into three batches in the labs and are supervised by the concerned
faculty in-charge. After each semester, batches are rotated after lab leaving
examination at departmental label. Faculties are being assessed by the HOD as
well as by the feedback from the students.
The
Department of Pharmacology has also developed a website for the student, so
that we can provide additional resources to the student.
MD Pharmacology
MD
Pharmacology course commenced from 2012-13 session with annual intake of 2
students per year. The MD course in the department is for the duration of three
years. At present three students are enrolled for their training in the form of
various P.G. activities such as seminar, Journal club, therapeutic club, group
discussion etc.
The
enrolled MD students are supposed to submit their synopsis till 4th
months from the time of admission. After the approval of a synopsis, thesis
work will start as per the guidelines of their supervisor and after the
approval from concerned ethical committee.
The
PG activities are analyzed on monthly basis in the prescribed format of the
department. Scoring is done on the basis of above mentioned format.
MD
student’s activities are recorded in the specified log book which is periodically
checked by the respective faculties in the department. PG are also trained by participating
in the teachings of undergraduate in labs and tutorials etc. There is a
departmental PG evaluation test after the completion of each semester.
M.Sc.
The
students in MSc. course are trained in the department in their 2nd
and 3rd year. The MSc. course in the department is for the duration
